Dagupan City Mayor Belen T. Fernandez signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) Secretary-General Charito Plaza which considers Dagupan as one of the economic zones in the country that is ideal for investments in Baguio City on June 17.
After a series of talks between city officials and PEZA, Dagupan has now the potential to become one of the economic zones to be developed in the Philippines. PEZA consultant, Manny S.D. Lopez, pioneered the talks three months ago to proclaim the city as an economic zone.
Fernandez pointed out Business Processing and Outsourcing (BPO), Information Communication Technology (ICT), and tourism as one of the potential investment opportunities in the city. The new growth centers are in Lucao-Pantal area, Caranglaan-Tebeng area, and Bonuan area.
Fernandez said: “Dagupan, as an economic zone, is recommended to potential foreign investors. The expanded growth centers can accommodate required spaces by investors and allow them to set up their business infrastructures either horizontally or vertically.”
