PIA advocates ASEAN Summit 2017

The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) held a program to promote and create awareness on Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit 2017 with its theme, “Partnering for change, engaging the world” at Robinsons Place, Calasiao, Pangasinan last June 21.
PIA, under the Presidential Communication Operation Office (PCOO) has been tapped to be one of the offices to help advocate the importance of ASEAN. As the country plays host to ASEAN 2017, the PIA deems it proper to use all platforms to promote and create awareness on ASEAN. In order to cater more people, PIA has set up activities in various commercial areas like malls, airports, and other public places.
One of these is the program at Robinsons Place headed by Mrs. Venus May Hortaleza Sarmiento of PIA Region 1 who tackled about the awareness in ASEAN summit. The program was spiced up with a fashion show of ASEAN costumes and flags by HCA production models. The models wore different costumes of countries that was part of ASEAN namely Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Sarmiento said: ”The prestigious event ended up succesful as it only does not promote, but it also gave awareness to the role of ASEAN summit.”
