Chinese blogger poisoned on live stream

A Chinese health blogger has been poisoned after eating Agave Americana while she was on live stream last July 3.

Zhang, 26, took a bite of the plant having a thought that it was aloe vera. But it turned out that she swallowed Agave Americana or also known as sentry plant, century plant, maguey or American aloe. This plant can be found in Mexico and not really edible to eat.

Zhang noticed that there was something wrong when she took a second bite and said, “Tastes bitter, really bitter”. She was rushed to the hospital after having rashes and blisters. Doctors pumped her stomach to remove the plant that she swallowed. Zhang is now in stable condition and recovering.
