International Plastic Bag Free Day was celebrated by the EcoWaste Coalition encouraging Filipinos to break the plastic bag usage and be a marine environment country last Sunday, July 03.
Zero Waste Campaigner Daniel Alejandre of EcoWaste Coalition said: “Plastic waste prevention and the genuine enforcement best practices in ecological solid waste management sans incineration and open burning is the way to go to tackle the plastic scourge that has now become a global malady.”
EcoWaste Coalition also encouraged all the shoppers and buyers to use reusable bags and bayong when shopping and buying goods in the market or even in malls.
Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives (GAIA), a worldwide alliance with a vision of “Toxic free world without incineration,” also gave their support and made bags using recycled materials.
