The Pocari Sweat bounced back from another careless start, before defeating the Water Defenders into a four-set match in Game 3 of the best-of-three Finals, in the Premium Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference at the Fil Oil V Centre in San Juan on June 15.
Pocari Sweat had a dry start before finding their momentum to lead their comeback with the help of their two American import players, Krystal Rivers and Michelle Strizak, and local star Myla Pablo. These three key players delivered very well, Rivers had 27 points coming of 22 spikes, four kill blocks and a service ace, while Stizak had 10 points, 13 kill blocks and was awarded the Best Import of the League. Local star Myla Pablo collected 16 points and became the Finals Most Valuable Player as she lead her team to bounce back after a slow start in the first set.
Pocari Sweat smashed out their opponent in the remaining sets by finishing off with powerful attacks and solid defense on the net. The victory was a sweet reward for Pocari Sweat Lady Warriors, after going through a rough and tough road in the round robin quarterfinals with just one import. They survived the best-of-three semi-finals, defeating the Power Smashers to face Bali Pure Water Defenders in the finals.
Pocari Sweat won in four sets against Bali Pure with the score 20-25, 25-17, 25-17, and 25-19 in Game 3 of the finals. This championship won by Pocari Sweat will be added on their collection of championship crowns after winning the Open Conference and Reinforced Conference in Shakey’s V-League last year.
