San Nicolas honors PO2 Tamondong

San Nicolas passed a resolution honoring the bravery of Police Officer 2 Aries Tamondong of the Regional Public Safety Battalion of Region 1 (RPSB1) who was killed in an armed encounter with the New People’s Army (NPA) last July 28 in San Nicolas, Pangasinan.


Katrina Tamondong, wife of PO2 Tamondong, received a call twice from her husband on the day of the encounter claiming she heard frantic voices and sensed his comrades were scampering for cover and positions according to an interview made by Sunday Punch. “For two hours I was hearing shouts from men in the background,” she said.


PO2 Tamondong, 35, and his wife Katrina, who lives in Barangay Cabanbanan, Manaoag have four kids and has been married for 17 years. According to reports, Mayor Rebecca Saldivar, municipal officials, and employees donated over P6,000 while the San Nicolas municipal council extended P20,000 for financial assistance.


Fourth District Rep. Christopher de Venecia expressed his condolences over the loss of PO2 Tamondong and said in a Sunday Punch interview: “We thank Officer Tamondong for his service and we commend his bravery, his dedication, and his commitment to go above and beyond the call of duty to serve and protect his fellow Pangasinenses.”


PO2 Tamondong will be laid to his final resting place on August 12.
