Cynthia Villar called out the Department of Justice (DOJ) to file a case against garlic cartel members last August 7.
Villar, being the chair of the Senate committee on agriculture and food, emphasized that there was no case filed against people behind rice smuggling. She has been holding hearings on the sudden rise in the cost of garlic.
According to Inquirer, Sen. Villar said in a press conference: “The point is, there is a report, they name names, and they describe the modus operandi. It was a very thick report. And why didn’t they study the report and made adjustments in BPI (Bureau of Plant Industry)?”
“Siguro the cartel is making a lot of money so gagawin nilang lahat para hindi maka-produce ang farmer ,” Villar claimed.
