Tagalog was the second-most common foreign language spoken by the people in California, Nevada, and Washington after Spanish according to a study conducted by 24/7 Wall Street.
The study that was published on July 1 showed that Tagalog was one of the six languages used in United States together with Chinese, Vietnamese, French, Korean and German. Tagalog, being the base language of Filipino, is the official national language of the Philippines.
According to the report made by coconuts.co, 832,024 in California speak Tagalog at home; 74,337 in Nevada; and 62,201 in Washington. Spanish was not included in the study since it was usually the spoken language in America after English.
24/7 Wall Street determined the frequently spoken foreign language in the state by reviewing the data from US Census Bureau’s 2015 American Consumer Survey on languages spoken and most often spoken at home.
