The finest tattoo artists around the world gathered for Dutdutan, an annual two-day tattoo expo presented by Tribal Gear Philippines which featured tattoo artists, contests, and a trade show held at the World Trade Center, Pasay City on September 1-2.

"Dutdutan" is a Filipino word meaning to continually insert or jab. On its 17th year, the ink fest recognized its noble roots and gave its highest respect as it honored the living legend, Apo Whang-Od from Kalinga. Apo Whang-Od is Kalingas' last tattoo artist and the world's oldest "mambabatok" title holder.

The expo displayed extraordinary pieces done by in-demand local and global tattoo artists. The event also highlighted tattoo competitions and Tribal Gear Philippines' annual bikini contest. Guests enjoyed the performances of local rock bands like Valley of Chicosci, Rocksteddy, and many more.

The aim of Dutdutan was to introduce tattoo as an art form – a way of expressing oneself that has long been considered taboo, as it always appeals to the unconventional.

According to Elmer "Kats" Vidal, one of Pangasinan's finest tattoo artists and an active member of Philippine Tattoo Artist Guild (PHILTAG), tattoo is a form of art and is a freedom of expression and originality.
