Ex-police killed in buy-bust operation

A former police officer was killed during a drug buy-bust operation in the boundary of Brgy. David, Mangaldan and Brgy. Nilombot, Mapandan on September 29.

A joint police operation of Mangaldan PNP led by PSUPT Jeff Fanged and Mapandan PNP led by SI Samuel Arcano, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) of Region I conducted a drug buy-bust operation against Donald Sanchez, who was an AWOL PNP member. Sanchez, a resident of San Carlos City, was formerly assigned in Sto. Tomas Police Station and was involved in robbery hold-up of gasoline stations in District 3 of the province.

Sanchez immediately shot the poseur buyer upon sensing that he was an undercover, prompting the police operatives to retaliate in shooting the suspect. The suspect was immediately rushed to Mapandan Community Hospital for medical treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician.
