A 29-year old US Marine veteran used a truck to bring injured victims to safety during a fatal mass shooting incident in Jason Aldean’s concert in Las Vegas, Sunday night on October 1.
Taylor Winston, a San Diego-based Marine veteran along with his friends, attended the Route 91 Harvest Festival when a gunman from the 32nd floor of Mandalay Bay Hotel opened fire in the crowd. Spectators were having fun until Jason Aldean stopped playing and the stage went dark. He then realized that the popping sounds were actually rapid-fire bursts of gunfire and not fireworks, Winston told CBS This Morning.
Winston and his friend decided to help those people in danger. Winston checked nearby trucks for keys and then took the victims to the hospital including 12 injured people.
The social community in Facebook praised him for his heroism. "You're an outstanding example of what we should all strive to be in time of crisis," said Savant Suykerbuyk in an interview who once served with Winston in US Marines.
“There are a lot of unsung heroes that day that stood up and helped people,” Winston told KGTV.
